Flatmate Wanted ($155 per week)
We are looking for a lovely new flatmate to take our current flat family from 2 to 3. This home is a lovely and warm 2-year old, 3-bedroom, 2 storey home situated in Otahuhu. This home is only 2 years old, and as such, the landlord is very particular about who lives in it. Under his conditions, we are therefore looking for a working professional or a mature student, preferably aged 21 + years - male or female :)
As for us, we are two 23 + 24 year old girls who are both studying medicine at Auckland University. I promise you we aren’t studious hermits, however, this is not a big party house - mostly because we can’t afford any damage to the house! (however we do enjoy an evening sangria night from time to time).
The room itself is currently a study. It is the same size as another existing bedroom in the home and is in no way “the small office that we are trying to sell off as a bedroom”. You can fit a queen sized bed in the room along with a set of drawers and a side table or a small desk. It also has a giant wardrobe with shelving units and a built in light which is very handy. There is also a small, long balcony outside the room and there are various other larger balconies around the second story overlooking the park next door. You will also have your own carpark down the end of the driveway and will share a bathroom with one other flatmate (and can have your own toilet downstairs if preferred).
Being situated in Otahuhu may be off-putting for those that prefer the city, however, in good traffic (ie. 7 in the morning), the city is only about a 15-20 minute drive on the motorway. Rush hour though isn’t quite as pretty (approx 45-50 minutes at worst). We are also close to the train station and bus stops that can take you to the city. Other nearby locations include Middlemore Hospital (5 minute walk), a large park right next door to meet all of your recreational needs, and Sylvia Park shopping centre which (about a 7 minute drive away).
We unfortunately are not allowed pets at this property, nor are we able to take couples or smokers. You must also be a very clean and tidy person. This is really important to both us and the landlord. Also the landlord (he is actually very lovely, just conscious about keeping his home in good condition) has also asked for an id check to be done on the potential new tenant so you will have a greater chance of getting this room if you can provide a reference etc.
The rent will be $155 per week + expenses (power + water + internet = approx $70ish per month) + a bond. We unfortunately are still waiting to hear back from the landlord re: the amount this bond will be but I am expecting nothing greater than 4 weeks rent.
We are looking for someone to move in ASAP and would like them to be looking to live here long term (ie. preferably at least until the end of 2017).
If interested, please contact me at
